COLLIN COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF) – Leaders from five cities will sit down Wednesday for the first-ever homeless summit in Collin County.
Stacy Brown with the City of Frisco says Plano, McKinney, Allen and Wylie will join them as they see the homeless rate in the county grow. Brown says they see a growing number of homeless any given night.
“There are over 500 people that do experience homelessness. 32 percent are children and 37 percent are working adults,” said Brown. “Those are the people living outside and not in shelters,”
The Collin County Homeless Summit will focus on healthcare and how the homeless are more likely to be victims of crime.
They plan to work with the faith community and school districts moving forward.
