Ignorance is bliss for a man who doesn’t know who won the election

BRUNSWICK, GA. (WBAP/KLIF News) — When Joe Chandler was invited to an election night party he took a pass. He said he was sick of all the campaigning and complaining so he just stayed home and didn’t watch the election returns on TV. When he awoke the next morning Chandler says he felt great. He had washed all thoughts of the election from his mind and liked the fact that he didn’t know who won.

He still doesn’t.

“It’s very peaceful in my bubble of ignorance,” Chandler told FOX 5 in Atlanta. He added he’s very happy and contented with the peace he’s found in the “center of the cyclone” and he wants to keep it that way.

How does he do it? For starters, Chandler is an artist who works at home, alone. He stays away from TV, radio and newspapers and when he does go out he wears headphones so he won’t accidentally hear people talking about who won the election. He also wears a sign around his neck that reads, “I don’t know who won, and don’t want to. Please don’t tell me!”

Chandler says he knows it can’t last forever but he doesn’t have an “exact exit plan”. He told the Today show, “I am almost ready for somebody to put me out of my misery, but when they do, I have a feeling I might be stepping back into a world of even more misery”.
