Marine Scams Government by Lying About Combat Injuries

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – A North Texas veteran lied about his combat injuries to scam the government out of money.

Brandon Blackstone, from Fort Worth, faces up to 21 years in prison after he admitted to lying about his military service in Iraq to get a free house and monthly veteran’s benefits.

He publicly claimed to have received a Purple Heart after his Humvee drove over a bomb and it exploded, leaving him with a traumatic brain injury.

It was later discovered that he stole the story from another Marine in his unit.

The truth is Blackstone returned to the U.S. with Appendicitis.

Blackstone is scheduled to be sentenced in February.
