DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Denton City Council has approved a ban on all handheld devices for drivers in the city.
Only one council member voted against the ordinance at Tuesday’s meeting.
The ban will take effect in 6 months and those who are caught talking or texting will face a hefty fine.
Hands-free use of devices is still permitted.
Police said the complete ban of handheld phone use will be easier to enforce than a texting ban that was already in effect.
Argyle, Lake Dallas and Little Elm have adopted similar bans on talking and texting.
