Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF) – The former owner of a Fort Worth funeral home has won an appeal, but is still in prison. Dondre Johnson was sentenced to two years in state jail for taking payment for cremations that were not performed. His business, Johnson Family Mortuary, was shut down when inspectors found abandoned, decomposing bodies in a back room. A court of appeals has now reversed the original verdict, but last May Johnson also pleaded guilty to multiple counts of abusing corpses, and is serving time for that, so he remains behind bars.
