FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) – A North Texas district attorney is denying a claim that her office unlawfully released a video showing a police officer shooting a black man as he walked away.
Tarrant County District Attorney Sharen Wilson responded to a complaint this week by the Combined Law Enforcement Associations of Texas alleging that releasing the video before a grand jury heard the case violated state law.
Wilson wrote in a letter sent Wednesday to the Texas attorney general’s office that she hasn’t seen the complaint.
She says her office had not received an internal affairs investigation from Fort Worth police when the dash-cam video was requested.
So her office at the time was required to release it to an attorney for David Collie, the man shot and paralyzed in the July incident.
