Mesquite (WBAP/KLIF) – Mesquite Police have served a theft arrest warrant on the Wilkinson Middle School teacher’s aide who fraudulently collected money and a car by falsely claiming he had cancer. Kevin MaBone told school administrators he needed time off for cancer surgery, but he actually had to go back to West Virginia to be sentenced for misappropriating government funds. Concerned students and Mesquite residents gave him a car and $1200 January 20, and were ready to donate another $11,000 to him when his scheme was uncovered. He was arrested, and is now in federal custody pending sentencing on his original charge.
