(WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn is defending Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell who used a senate rule to silence Senator Elizabeth Warren.
It happened during debate over the attorney general confirmation proceedings this week.
“It’s a sign of the times where we’ve had kind of a race to the bottom in the world’s greatest deliberative body, the United States Senate, and failed to treat each other with the civility and decorum that I think goes along with the privilege of serving in the Senate,” Cornyn said during a conference call with reporters.
Senator Cornyn says it is appropriate, under Senate rules, when disparaging a fellow senator to be instructed to sit down.
Senator Jeff Sessions was eventually confirmed, along party lines, to be Attorney General under President Donald Trump Wednesday night.
