Fort Worth Mayor Meets with Disgruntled Mother from Viral Video

FORT WORTH (WBAP & KLIF News) — Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price has now met with a mother gone viral in a December video involving a Fort Worth police officer.

Jacqueline Craig and her attorney are looking to have officer William Martin fired from the Fort Worth Police Department after a video went viral showing him questioning her parenting and arresting her after tensions rose.

Craig met with Price Wednesday at Fort Worth City Hall to see if there’s anything the city can do for her, but according to Craig and her attorney, she only received Price’s sympathies.

“I need somebody that’s capable. I need to speak to capable people,” Craig said after the meeting. “I don’t need to speak to anyone who has authority and is scared to use that authority.”

Otherwise, Craig said Price was apologetic and that the meeting “went pretty well.” Price declined comment.

“Mayor Price reiterated her sympathy for Ms. Craig, apologized on behalf of the city, [and] acknowledged that the penalty Officer Martin received was not severe enough,” said Lee Merritt, Craig’s attorney.

Merritt and Craig said their next step is to pressure the Tarrant County District Attorney to meet their demands of removing Martin from the police department, as well as seeking felony charges against the man Craig says choked her son, which ultimately led to the incident in the viral video.
