Ft. Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) – Alliance Airport is adding two hangars to accommodate growth in traffic. The hangars will add 72,150 square feet of space for private planes.
“It’s great for us, and it’s great for the City of Fort Worth,” says Alliance President Thomas Harris. The city owns Alliance Airport.
The hangars are scheduled to open in June. Harris says demand at the airport has grown as the population of North Texas has grown.
“New folks are moving into the community, both on the business side and on the private side,” he says. “Hangar space is at a premium at the moment. There’s just not a lot of it available.”
Harris says air traffic has increased because Alliance offers close connections to rail and highways. US Customs is available 24/7.
He says the airport has become a “front door” for companies that may relocate or expand into North Texas. Moving forward, Harris says Alliance will maintain its focus as an industrial airport and inland port.
“You’ve got FedEx with one of their biggest hubs in the countries. We’ve got a lot of air freight charters,” he says. “You can come and go out of Alliance without having to worry about a lot of congestion,” he says.
