RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF News) – Richardson police said an attempted burglary at a luxury car dealership turned into a police chase and two standoffs in McKinney and Van Alstyne Tuesday morning.
It started a the Lamborghini dealership in the 600 block of Highway 75 around 3:30 a.m.
Sergeant Kevin Perlich said officers responded to a burglary call and encountered the suspect, who allegedly started firing shots at them.
He said the officers returned fire and the suspect jumped into a white SUV and took off. No one was injured.
Authorities followed the suspect as he headed north on Highway 75.
The suspect eventually stopped his car on the highway in McKinney and engaged in a standoff with police.
After authorities used tear gas to lure the suspect out of the car, he took off again traveling northbound on Highway 75 with police in pursuit.
The incident caused both sides of Highway 75 near U.S 380 to be closed off during the chase.
Around 6 a.m., police said the suspect willingly pulled over near Van Aulstyne and was engaged in another standoff with officers.
The standoff came to an end around 8 a.m. and the suspect was arrested.
