DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has decided to hang up his cleats.
Now that he has been released by the Cowboys Romo is retiring and will join the broadcast team at CBS Sports.
News broke that the Cowboys would part ways with Romo last month, but the team never actually did it, causing many to speculate whether the Cowboys were trying to trade him, hold onto him, or if retirement was an option.
He was replaced by then-rookie quarterback Dak Prescott after Romo injured his back in the pre-season and Prescott led the Cowboys to a hot start during the 2016 season.
Romo joined Dallas as an undrafted free agent in 2003. He made his first start in 2006 and played 14 seasons with the Cowboys. He finishes his career with 34,183 passing yards with a 65 percent completion percentage, 248 touchdowns, 117 interceptions, two playoff wins, and multiple team passing records.
