High Water Causes Damage at Irving High School

Irving (WBAP/KLIF News) – High water caused minor damage at Irving High School Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service had issued a Flash Flood Warning for part of Dallas County, warning that up to three inches of rain could fall.

Outside the school, students say water reached the top of books.

“We took a lot of pictures and posted them to social media,” one student, waiting outside the school, said.

“The janitors came in and started cleaning, but we had to go different routes from the school because they wanted to evacuate that area,” another student added.

The Irving Independent School District says no one was hurt. The district says the library was damaged as well as several classrooms.

Irving ISD says the classrooms could be cleaned up, but the district would likely have to hire an outside contractor to clean the library.

Classes are scheduled as normal Tuesday.
