DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price may have a large gathering at the courthouse Tuesday morning.
Dominique Alexander of the Next Generation Action Network says they’ve asked supporters to show up Tuesday during closing arguments of Price’s corruptions trial to fight back against what he calls a “witch hunt” of a case.
“The Next Generation Action Network is going to push back at anything that goes contrary toward this victory that we want to see,” Alexander said at a press conference last week.
The group had originally scheduled a separate rally for Monday night as well. But Alexander said that event was canceled after Price issued a statement asking people not to, with Alexander saying Price doesn’t want distractions heading into what could be the biggest day of his corruption trial to date.
“What John Wiley Price has went through in the last five years — our federal government should be ashamed of themselves for what they have put a man that has served his community for so long through,” Alexander said. “They should be ashamed.”
The case will go to the jury Tuesday after closing arguments, where they will then decide whether or not he’s guilty of 11 counts of bribery, tax evasion and mail fraud. If convicted, Price could spend the rest of his life behind bars.
