Fort Worth Police Search for Driver Who Hit 5-Year-Old Girl

FORT WORTH  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Fort Worth police are asking the public to help catch the suspect in a hit and run accident that sent a 5-year-old girl to the hospital on Friday.

Caroline Muckleroy was hit and as she rode her scooter along River Falls Drive near Precinct Line Road. She suffered a broken leg, ruptured spleen and a minor head injury.

Officer Daniel Segura said the fact the suspect never stopped gives investigators insight into the driver’s possible mindset at the time.

“There can be many circumstances, maybe the driver is intoxicated…maybe they have outstanding warrants and in many cases they go into panic mode and they leave,” he said.

Segura urges anyone involved in this type of accident to stay put because the second a driver decides to leave the scene, it becomes a criminal investigation despite the circumstances.

“We understand that accidents are going to happen. Please stay on scene, call 911 and wait for officers. So, we can get both sides of the story,” he said.

Several neighbors witnessed the accident and called 911.

One neighbor’s surveillance camera captured footage of the silver or white 2009 Toyota 4Runner seen in the image above.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Fort Worth Police Department.
