DeSoto Police Search for Suspect in Elderly Man’s Murder

DESOTO (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Desoto Police Department is asking the public to help solve the murder of 81-year-old T.G. Grady.

He was shot to death as he sat in his truck in front of his home last Saturday.

Investigators said surveillance video shows an armed person of interest in the area just before the shooting.

The department’s Sergeant Nick Bristow said this crime is particularly heinous.

“If you watch that video you can see that it appears that the suspect is pretty much treating hims as prey. That is what is so hard to watch. Again, every murder is horrific but this murder appears to be especially senseless,” he said.

Bristow said the department decided to release the footage in the hopes that the image might help someone remember a detail that could help investigators.

“We’re hoping that someone might recognize the suspect. Maybe his gait, the way he walks…possibly what he’s wearing. We’re hoping that we could get some additional tips that could help get this crime solved,” he said.

There’s up to $20,000 in reward money being offered by Crime Stoppers, the Desoto Police Department and Oak Farms Dairy for information leading to an arrest in this case.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Southwest Regional Communications Center at 972-223-6111.
