DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The four Dallas police officers who were killed by a lone gunman in the downtown district July 7th, 2016 were honored Tuesday by members of the “We Remember” Memorial Bicycle Trek.
It’s a group of cyclists who are biking more than 2300 miles across Texas, visiting each city that lost an officer in the line of duty this past year.
The group’s Steven Bazany gave a heartfelt message as he presented four special plaques, one for each slain officer, outside the Dallas Police Department’s headquarters.
“We want to remember all of our fallen brothers. To remind all of their families and to their immediate blue family that they have not been lost…that they have not been forgotten…that they are still held dear within this great brotherhood,” he said.
Officer Demarquis Black said a prayer as the plaques were presented and asked the crowd to remember what was lost that tragic day.
“Thank you for the brave families that endure. Thank all the law enforcement officers across this state, country and the world for all that they endure. Let’s keep these families in our memory and our prayer,” he said.
The “We Remember” group will end its tour in Austin Saturday, April 29th.
