Still No Verdict in the John Wiley Price Corruption Trial, Jury Deadlocked

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – After five days of deliberations in the John Wiley Price corruption trial, the embattled Dallas County Commissioner still has not learned his fate.

U.S. District Judge Barbara Lynn called Price, co-defendant Daphne Fain and attorneys from both sides back to the court Tuesday afternoon, after jurors announced they were unable to reach a verdict.

After eight weeks of testimony and more than 30 hours of deliberating, the jury told Lynn it was hung on some counts but did not specify where it was having trouble.

Lynn told the jury to go home, take a deep breath and come back Wednesday morning.

Price, Fain and their attorneys left the courthouse and did not utter a word to reporters waiting outside.

The long-serving commissioner is charged with 11 counts of tax evasion, mail fraud and bribery.

If the jury is unable to reach a verdict, the state could choose to re-try Price with a new jury.
