WACO (WBAP/KLIF News) — A Mexican-themed party hosted by a Baylor fraternity has led to student-led protests and a suspension for the fraternity.
Baylor’s chapter of Kappa Sigma hosted a “Cinco de Drinko” party, where photos on Twitter show people dressed in sombreros and other traditional Mexican clothes. One party-goes says some showed up in brown-face paint and dressed up as maids or construction workers.
After word of the party got around, students began protesting on campus because of the party’s racial tone.
Baylor has since suspended the fraternity, saying in a statement the event was insensitive and does not represent the school’s Christian institutional values.
