TARRANT COUNTY (WBAP/KLIF News) – After almost eight hours of negotiating, the suspect involved in a SWAT standoff with authorities surrendered peacefully Tuesday afternoon.
The Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office said the suspect, identified as Jose Manuel Lomeli Junior, led officers on a chase Monday, was found on Tuesday and eventually barricaded himself inside someone else’s home on Brentwood Lane.
The homeowner told authorities said there were weapons in the house, causing police to treat the suspect as armed.
The incident forced Haslet Elementary school to go under what the district called a “precautionary lockdown” and nearby neighborhoods were also affected.
Lomeli Junior faces charges of stalking, violation of a protective order and evading arrest in a motor vehicle.
