BALCH SPRINGS (WBAP/KLIF News) Many are saying the Balch Springs Police department hasn’t done enough after firing Roy Oliver. Dr. Alex Del Carmen is the executive director of the School of Criminology at Tarleton State University in Fort Worth. He says the chief was stuck in a difficult position ahead of the decision and could’ve also been criticised if he waited to terminate Oliver. Everyone agrees the firing happened quickly. No word yet on any charges Oliver may face. The family of Jordan Edwards is calling for peace. They’ve released a statement saying “while our family attempts to cope with our loss, we ask that at this time the community please refrain from protests and marches in Jordan’s and our family’s name…”. They go on to say that they do not support any threats of violence toward the Balch Springs Police Department.
