DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) Tony Romo traded in the turf for the green. The former Dallas Cowboys quarterback plans to try to qualify for the 2017 U.S. Open. He is set to play in a qualifier tournament in Aledo Monday. Romo tried to qualify in the past but had to cut the attempt short to make a Cowboys offseason workout and injuries derailed other golfing plans. He now won’t have to worry about the demands of football, giving him time to hone his golf skills. Mike Rausch, the vice president at Golf Etc, is grouped with Romo in the upcoming qualifier and says Romo is a good putter.
