Fort Worth Unveils New Website to Track and Compare Schools

The Data Dashboard

FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF News) – Parents in Fort Worth can now track their school’s progress in helping kids learn to read online.

The website ReadFortWorth.org lets parents compare reading scores within the district and with schools in other cities.

It’s part of the Fort Worth Independent School District’s effort to get all third graders reading at level by 2025.

The Fort Worth Literacy Partnership’s Kirstin Sullivan said the city had fallen behind.

“In Texas, third graders from El Paso, Houston, Corpus Christi and Dallas were out performing our kids,” she said.

Sullivan said right now, only 30 percent of third graders are reading at level.

“A number of Fort Worth adults with a post secondary degree was tracking closely with the thirty percent of children reading on grade level. So, none of these metrics will fuel the work force that Fort Worth demands,” she said.

The free service was unveiled this week as students prepare to take the 2017 STAAR Reading exam.
