Protesters Call For Change Outside Congressman Pete Sessions Dallas Office

DALLAS  (WBAP/KLIF News) – Several dozen people staged a protest outside of the office of Congressman Pete Sessions in Dallas Friday morning.

They said they’re outraged over Sessions support of the American Health Care Act.

This man said he’s angry but he’s thinking ahead to the elections in 2018.

“This is all nice and well and good…but if we don’t get people to the polls in 2018 we have failed. So everything we’re doing is geared toward getting people signed up and registered to vote,” he said.

Protesters said Sessions’ district might be in a vulnerable position. Sessions had introduced legislation similar to the American Health Care Act but later threw his support behind the measure, which was passed by the House.

Hillary Clinton won more votes than Donald Trump in his district during the presidential election.

This protester said he thinks that Sessions has changed since then.

“He kind of waffled. I mean nobody knew really what he was going to do until he actually did go ahead and vote for the AHCA. He’s starting make his message softer than what it used to be.”

Two democrats have announced plans to challenge Sessions next year. It’s a development this protester hopes will inspire more people to be politically active.

“Don’t lose the passion because in 2018, we’re going to turn things around,” he said.
