Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – A round of storms has created problems all through north Texas. The sometimes intense rain since Friday evening touched off dozens of traffic accidents in the metroplex. In addition the downpours caused street flash flooding, and many local fire departments received dozens of calls to help motorists stranded in high water. There were also several house fires that apparently were started by lightning.
One of the fire trucks responding to one of those house fire calls had a real problem when fast flowing water washed it off a road near Ledbetter and Parkwood. The truck rolled onto its side when it left the pavement, and a firefighter riding in the back was injured. He was taken to a hospital, treated, and released.
Runoff from the storms brought the Trinity River above flood stage Saturday morning. Barring more cloudbursts, the Trinity should drop back below flood level late Saturday afternoon.
