High-Speed Police Chase Involving 18-Wheeler Ends in Fiery Crash in Arlington

ARLINGTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The standoff along 1-30 in Arlington has come to an end and police have a suspect in custody after a high-speed police chase involving a stolen 18-wheeler ended in a fiery crash.

SWAT officers pulled the man out, who was bleeding and seemed dazed.

The chase started when a Fort Worth police officer spotted the semi truck hitting cars on West Freeway in Fort Worth.

When officers attempted to pull the truck over, the driver took off and headed into Arlington.

The high-speed chase ended when the semi hit a barrier along the highway and burst into flames.

Arlington police, Fort Worth police and a SWAT team surrounded the semi with weapons drawn to assess who was inside the vehicle.

The Arlington Police Department’s Vanessa Harrison said witnesses said said officers saw people moving inside the truck but no one responded to commands.

Police reported that there are at least 12 injuries in the five crashes associated with this situation but none of them appear to be life threatening.
