DENTON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The Denton County Transportation Authority is urging cyclists to be safe after a man collided with an A-train Tuesday morning at the Lakeview Crossing just south of the MedPark Station.
11 passengers were on board the train at the time of the incident. They were removed from the train safely and no injuries were reported.
The cyclist suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash.
DCTA President Jim Cline said it’s important to be cautious when crossing the tracks.
“We want to make sure people don’t take short cuts. With bicyclists in particular being careful that the careful that the narrow tires can get caught between the tracks and some of the crossing equipment. It just has to require extra caution,” he said.
Cline issued condolences to the victim’s family and said the agency strives to avoid these types of accidents.
“The safety of our passengers and our community is of the utmost priority to DCTA,” he said.
Investigators are working to determine the cause of the accident.
