(WBAP/KLIF) – Senator John Cornyn is keeping those wounded in Wednesday’s Congressional baseball practice shooting in his thoughts and prayers.
The republican from Texas is applauding the quick reaction from security around the congressmen and their staffs.
“I especially want, though, to recognize the heroic efforts of the U.S. Capitol Police who, by all accounts, acted bravely and decisively to stop the shooter,” Cornyn said.
He says the Capitol Police do tireless and thankless work in protecting members of the House and Senate as well as their staffs and families.
Cornyn also called for the Congressional Baseball Game to go on as scheduled Thursday evening.
“I think the worst thing we could do, in the face of terrorism or criminal acts like this, is to cave in,” Cornyn said.
The game raises thousands of dollars each year for charities including the Boys and Girls Club, the Washington Nationals Dream Foundation and the Washington Literacy Center.
