Fort Worth (WBAP/KLIF News) – Testimony could end Friday in the case of a Fort Worth police officer who was suspended for excessive force for his response to a call last year.
William Martin was suspended for ten days. He appealed the suspension, asking for the excessive force charge to be removed from his record and receive back-pay for the suspension.
On Thursday, the Internal Affairs officer who investigated the case answered questions from the city’s and Martin’s lawyers.
Detective Jake White said a lawyer for Jacqueline Craig insisted on sitting in while White took a statement from Craig.
“In the, probably 15 years, we’ve used that as a jail, I’ve been there probably well over a thousand times,” White said. “I’ve never seen an attorney inside.”
White said he found no evidence Martin based his arrests on race.
When testimony ends, the independent arbitrator could take several weeks to make a decision.
