FRISCO (WBAP/KLIF News) — The Frisco School District will decide Monday night whether or not to adopt a budget that would force student athletes to pay to play.
The budget calls them operational fees, which would make middle school students pay $100 to participate in athletics, and high school students would have to pay $200. It says the fee would cover the costs of security, laundry, transportation, and game officials.
The fees would be paid per student, not per sport. It’s estimated, if approved, this specific recommendation alone would bring in $1.2 million to the district.
Also in the budget proposal are funding cuts to many fine arts programs, as well as a two percent raise for all staff.
