Dallas Police, Fire Marshal’s Office to Patrol City for Fireworks Violators

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – If you’re planning on setting off fire works within the Dallas city limits tonight…think again.

The Dallas Police Department will be partnering with the Fire Marshal’s Office tonight to conduct extra patrols to crack down on people with fireworks in the city limits.

Officer Carlos Almeida said Fire Department personnel will be riding in police squad cars searching for violators and offenders will face stiff penalties.

“Illegal fireworks are not permitted within the city of Dallas but if you should be caught in possession of fireworks, even if you’re not setting them off, you can receive a fine of up to $2,000 within the city of Dallas,” he said.

Almeida said it’s all about protecting residents.

“Our goal is to make sure that the community and all citizens are safe. So, safety is our number one concern here,” he said.

Authorities suggest that anyone looking to celebrate July 4th, head to one of the many festivities happening throughout the DFW Metroplex tonight.
