AUSTIN (WBAP/KLIF News) – Governor Greg Abbott issued a statewide call to stand with law enforcement in Texas to mark the one-year anniversary of the attack on Dallas Police.
The request comes amidst numerous memorial events around Dallas to honor of Officers Brent Thompson, Michael Smith, Michael Krohl, Patrick Zamarripa and Lorne Ahrens, who gunned down by a sniper in what is considered the deadliest attack on U.S. law enforcement since the September 11th attacks.

Abbott is asking all Texas law enforcement officers to turn on their red and blue lights for one-minute on Friday at 10 a.m.
The Governor said that it’s important to restore the respect for law enforcement officials nationwide.
“It is our officers who stand between us and all that threatens, and we must stand behind them by sending a clear message that attacks on our men and women in blue will not be tolerated. I ask that all Texans come together to show our appreciation for those who keep us safe,” he said.
In Austin, officers in their patrol cars will line the North drive of the Capitol to turn on their red and blue lights in unity.
Governor Abbott will also be speaking at the funeral of San Antonio Police Officer Miguel Moreno, who was shot and killed in the line of duty last week.
