MCKINNEY (WBAP/KLIF) – Collin County has been designated as a Purple Heart County.
The Purple Heart Award is available to soldiers who are wounded or killed in combat. Collin County recognizes a high number of residents who’ve been given the Purple Heart Award. DFW Mid-cities Chapter 1513 of ‘The Military Order of the Purple Heart’ presented the county with the honor.
“We really appreciate you joining us,” County Judge Keith Self told the group. “And on behalf of all of the Purple Heart recipients in the county we thank you.”
The award was given to the county for their support of combat wounded veterans.
