Mary Kay Seminar Expected to Have Big Economic Impact

DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Nearly 30,000 Mary Kay Cosmetics Beauty Consultants will be in Dallas over the next two weeks for the company’s national seminar.

According to the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, the event will pump more than $48 million into the North Texas economy through local spending and support 4,665 jobs in the Dallas area. The seminar is made up of four back-to-back conferences and is one of the largest annual events in North Texas based on attendance, economic impact and hotel room nights. Consultants from across the country come to the event.

“It’s like Broadway plus Miss America, plus the Academy Awards, plus an adult version for women of Disney World all in a three day period,” Consultant Mary Ing said.

The annual seminar has been in Dallas since the 1970’s.

“It’s a vibrant city,” said Consultant Christy Campbell. “I like that we get to give back to a place that has given so much to us.”

The Dallas based company will soon open a $125 million manufacturing facility for Mary Kay products. The seminar runs through August 4.
