Wife of Texas Attorney General Considering Senate Run

(WBAP/KLIF) – The wife of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is contemplating a run for the Texas Senate.

North Texas legislators say Angela Paxton is strongly considering running for Senate seat District 8, which primarily covers Collin County. State Representative Matt Shaheen says Mrs. Paxton is highly regarded in the that district.

“I don’t even need to hesitate to say I think she is loved more than Ken Paxton himself in Collin County,” Shaheen said.

Mrs. Paxton is a counselor at a private school in Plano and has worked closely with many entities in and around the district. No official announcement yet from Paxton on if she will run, but it is likely to come soon.

“My hope is that she will decide to run and if she does she’ll have my full support,” said State Representative Jeff Leach. “I expect that we’ll hear an announcement any day now.”

Senator Van Taylor currently holds the seat but has filed paperwork to run for Congress. Phillip Huffines has announced he will run for Senate seat District 8 and essentially would be running against Paxton.

Paxton’s husband is scheduled to be on trial on fraud charges in Harris County later this year.
