Irving (WBAP/KLIF) – The Girl Scouts of America are not happy with the Boy Scouts. Their leadership has sent a strongly worded letter to the Irving based Boy Scouts accusing its leaders of conducting a covert campaign to recruit girls in order to boost the Boy Scouts’ declining numbers. The letter describes such an effort as “a potentially dangerous and bad idea,” and compares the plan to a corporate hostile takeover. The Girl Scouts say you can’t just add girls to a program designed for boys without creating a lot of problems. Meanwhile, the Boy Scouts’ leadership says it has discussed the possibility, but no such program has been decided or implemented.
