FORT WORTH (WBAP/KLIF) – Among the dozens of emergency personnel making their way south to respond to the effects of Hurricane Harvey, emergency service provider MedStar is sending the AMBUS, a hospital on wheels to respond. MedStar’s Matt Zavadsky said they have seven uniquely trained personnel inside the bus that have the capability to triage close to 20 patients.
“The bus is being sent to a staging location near San Antonio to be part of a reserve pool for deployment so it’s closer to the scene as it could be used to relocate local patients from the hospitals, or it could be used to go to a shelter to provide a clinic type environment.”
Zavadsky added that the emergency personnel inside the bus have been assigned for at least a week.
