DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Dallas County Health and Human Services is reporting the second West Nile virus death in Dallas County for 2017.
The patient was a resident of the 75240 zip code of Dallas and was previously diagnosed with West Nile neuroinvasive disease.
West Nile is a disease the is spread by the bite of an infected mosquito. Symptoms include fever, headaches and muscle aches. There is no vaccine or specific treatment.
The Health Department says the best way to avoid exposure to West Nile virus is avoid mosquito bites.
