Houston Airports, Schools Closed Due to Flooding

HOUSTON (WBAP/KLIF News) — Both major Houston airports have been temporarily shut down.

George Bush Intercontinental and Hobby airports both tweeted that flooding on the roadways has forced them to stop incoming and outgoing flights until further notice. On Monday, that’s more than a thousand canceled flights at George Bush and more than 300 at Hobby.

Also shutting down for awhile is the Houston Independent School District. Their first day was supposed to be Monday, but they’ll now be closed at least until Labor Day.

That includes extracurricular activities too, including week one of Texas high school football, which was set to begin Friday.
