DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Local non-profit groups are combining their efforts to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
The Mass Care Task Force is a coalition of the American Red Cross North Texas, the North Texas Food Bank, the Salvation Army and Volunteernow.
Trisha Cunningham, President and CEO of the North Texas Food Bank, says they expect more evacuees to arrive in Dallas throughout the week.
“We have been notified now that they have set up the convention center downtown with 5,000 beds that they are diverting more,” said Cunningham.
The agencies are working together to use their strengths to provide evacuees with food, shelter and volunteers. Cunningham said the groups have been meeting for several months to discuss combining their efforts. The organizations are in constant communication in their relief efforts.
