SOUTH TEXAS (WBAP/KLIF News) – The National Weather Service said Tropical Storm Harvey has dumped more rain on the continental United States than any other system on record.
The service said a station near Houston has already received 52 inches of rain.
Forecasters said a small part of east Texas could pickup another ten inches in the next three days and more than six inches could fall on parts of Tennessee and Kentucky as Harvey moves northeast.
The National Hurricane Center said Harvey gained strength Tuesday, with winds increasing from 45 to 50 miles per hour, but remained a tropical storm.
In Houston, the floods displaced tens of thousands of residents and 15 deaths have been blamed on the storm since it made landfall last Friday.
