Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – Thousands of Texans who were evacuated during the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey are returning to their neighborhoods to see how much damaged has been done to their homes and businesses. In most areas the water is receding, but not in all. The mayor of Houston says several thousand homes in that city will be flooded for at least two more weeks because they were built downstream from two flood control reservoirs. Those reservoirs are more than full, and their dams had to be opened to relieve the pressure. The Federal Emergency Management Agency says it has already received more than 457,000 applications for disaster assistance, and is expecting many more.
