DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) –Hurricane Irma has Florida in a State of Emergency as it moves its way along both coasts of Florida. Winds of over 130 mph have already been recorded and storm surge of up to 10 feet are expected along the west coast of the state.
The storm officially made landfall overnight Sunday as a Category 4 storm on Cudjoe Key, according the National Hurricane Center. Over 1 million people are already without power, with that number expected to increase.
Florida Governor Rick Scott at a press conference Sunday morning said every life matters and emergency responders are making preparations for rescues.
The storm is expected pack 100 mph+winds through Ft. Meyers, Naples and even Tampa.
