(WBAP/KLIF) – Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has filed lawsuits against three businesses for what he calls unlawful price gouging during Hurricane Harvey.
Paxton says his office has received more than a thousand complaints since the storm hit.
“The Legislature put in my hands the responsibility dealing with price gouging,” said Paxton. “It’s usually fairly extreme things like $20 a gallon gas, you know, bread for $15.”
One of the companies in the suit is Robstown Enterprises which Paxton says tripled their hotel room costs near Corpus Christi during the storm.
The other two are Bains Brothers and Encinal Fuel Stop. Both of those companies are accused of charging excessive amounts of money for gas in the DFW area and Laredo.
