DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF News) — President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have made good on a promise to donate some of their own money to Texas hurricane recovery efforts.
The Houston Humane Society has received a letter from the White House along with a check for $25,000 to aid in the Society’s continue rescue and housing efforts for stray pets.
Sherry Ferguson, Executive Director for the Houston Humane Society, posted a note on the organization’s Facebook page reading, “Animals are truly non-partisan members of society that can use help from both sides of the aisle. Our shelter is so grateful for the first family’s decision to make animals a top priority as Houstonians work to rebuild our city from the devastation left behind by Harvey.”
The Trumps have donated a total of $1 million to Hurricane Harvey relief funds for a wide variety of organizations. Donation amounts vary between $25,000 and $300,000 each.
