A Texas Congressman Says Hurricane Harvey’s Floods Were a Wake-Up Call

Undated (WBAP/KLIF) – Texas congressman Jeb Hensarling, chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, has told a CNBC interview the floods that inundated large parts of southeast Texas following Hurricane Harvey were a wake-up call. Hensarling says the Federal Flood Insurance program keeps rebuilding homes in flood prone areas, even though as he put it “at some point God’s telling you to move.” As he sees it the logical thing is to give up, and return those areas to what they are supposed to be: part of the natural water replenishment of the ecology.
