Tennessee church shooting leaves one dead, seven wounded

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – According to Tennessee officials, at least one person has been killed and six have been injured at a church shooting in Antioch. The Nashville Fire Department sates that the shooter is among the wounded.

At approximately 11:15 A.M., police began getting calls stating that

multiple shots were fired with people shot at Burnette Chapel Church of Christ, according to reports from a dispatcher. At 11:40 a.m. a dispatcher said the scene was “still active.”

Joseph Pleasant, a spokesman for the Nashville Fire Department, confirmed at least six to eight people have been injured and were being transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Officials said the shooter was among eight people being treated for injuries via the Nashville Fire Department official twitter account.

Reports from the Nashville Fire Department also state that all of the wounded have been taken to area hospitals and the majority of those are older adults. “All of the wounded except for one is over the age of 60,” the Nashville Fire Department said.
