DALLAS (WBAP/KLIF) – Several U.S. companies have announced plans to increase hiring during the holiday season, including businesses in the Dallas area.
Research from Office Team reported that 26% of hiring managers say they typically increase hiring in the fourth quarter. Experts said that beyond a retail surge, there are many reasons why companies will be hiring in the coming months, such as year-end projects, budgeting for 2018, open enrollment season and filling vacated positions, are all driving the demand to hire seasonal workers.
“Seasonal jobs aren’t just tied to the retail industry,” said Dan Rymas, Dallas metro market manager for Robert Half. “Companies need to hire a variety of workers this time of year. We see high demand in the areas of customer service, accounts receivable, payroll, collections, billing, bookkeeping, In Dallas, the distribution, hospitality, insurance and financial services sectors are especially busy.”
FedEx expects to add more than 50,000 seasonal positions throughout its network to help the holidays arrive this year, and we are hiring 2,300 people in Dallas. The local openings include package handlers and other support positions. The company said the majority of the workers will be added as seasonal package handlers at FedEx ground facilities.
“FedEx offers its team members the chance to grow and reach their full potential thanks to excellent training, affordable medical benefits and a strong ‘promote from within culture,” said Dan Griffith, Dallas Hub senior manager. “It’s a great place to grow and advance your career, and these factors make FedEx one of the best and most admired companies to work for around the world.”
Last year more than 1/3 of the package handlers hired at FedEx Ground facilities retained employment with the company at the conclusion of the holiday season.
