Dallas (WBAP/KLIF) – AAA reports the price of gasoline in Texas has dropped for the second week in a row. It’s down an average 8 cents in Dallas at $2.43 a gallon. It’s $2.42 in Fort Worth. The national average is $2.57 a gallon.
The AAA report says there are several reasons for that. Chief among them, demand is down while refining capacity is up. A month after Hurricane Harvey made landfall, Texas Gulf Coast refinery operations are up nearly 10%.
Overall, 10 refineries are operating at reduced rates while three remain shutdown. AAA says the price of gasoline should continue to drop as the affected refineries return to more normal levels of operation.
