RICHARDSON (WBAP/KLIF News) – The attorney for the mother of a missing three-year-old Richardson girl said his client is hopeful for her daughter’s return.
Sherin Mathews was last seen Saturday when her father put her in an alley around 3 a.m. as punishment for not drinking her milk.
Attorney Kent Starr said Sini Mathews, who hasn’t spoken publicly since her daughter disappeared, is distraught.
“The mere fact that you do not hear from a person who is mourning, some individuals mourn differently. The mere fact that she may walk up and down the street and she may react differently during a time of trauma is not indicative of anything,” he said.
Child Protective Services removed Sherin’s four-year-old sister from the home shortly after her disappearance.
Starr said the temporary removal dealt another heavy blow to his client.
“All she wants is her daughter back, Sherin Mathews, and her biological daughter back,” he said.
Sherin was adopted and has several medical conditions.
It’s been five days since Sherin was last seen but Starr said his client remains optimistic.
“She is. She is very hopeful that her daughter will be returned,” he said.
Sini Mathew’s husband, Wesley Mathews, was arrested on child endangerment charges and was released on bond.
The Richardson Police Department placed him on an ankle monitor and his passport has been revoked. The FBI has joined the investigation.
No suspects have been named in Sherin’s disappearance.
